Saul, later renamed Paul, was a Pharisee and had a reputation for being a ruthless persecutor of Christians. However, Saul experiences a dramatic change. He goes to Damascus to round up Christians but meets Jesus in a vision instead. Saul is struck down and blinded and hears Jesus' voice telling him to go into the city and wait.
Saul's encounter with Jesus changed his life forever. He repented of his sins and began to preach the Gospel, sharing the message of Jesus Christ with others. Saul's conversion was so profound that he became one of the most influential leaders of the early Church, spreading the message of salvation and establishing numerous Christian communities.
